Meet ALTON E. LAMB
Al Lamb is an extraordinary athlete who has defied the odds to become a three-time Olympic medal winner in the Northern VA Senior Olympics. Despite facing significant physical challenges, he has proven himself to be a true inspiration to those around him.
In 2015, Al won the 5K Silver medal, demonstrating his determination and grit. However, it was in 2021 that he truly shone, winning both the 800 Meter Bronze medal and the 5K Silver medal. What makes this achievement all the more remarkable is that just two years prior, Al had undergone a complete knee replacement and was struggling with a debilitating back injury that left him unable to stand at the kitchen sink or sit at the kitchen table for more than 15 minutes at a time. He was only able to go up and down the stairs once a day which lasted for nine months.
Despite these challenges, Al refused to give up. He worked tirelessly to regain his strength and mobility, spending countless hours in physical exercising and pushing himself to his limits. His resilience, humility, and hope inspired all who knew him, and his incredible comeback story continues to inspire others.
Today, at the age of 81, Al is still competing and showing no signs of slowing down. His dedication and perseverance serve as a testament to the human spirit and the power of the human will.
